My very good friend Murali indulged my need for a model for today's photos. And just so you know, he's not only a great model and friend but one of the nicest people you could ever hope to know.
This is my cat Luna. I took this at a ridiculously low shutter speed, hand held, and she wouldn't be perfectly still so I have to say I am very impressed with how it turned out. She is a skittish, almost fearful kitty so I like that this gives her an almost ghost like look. In fact, Michael and I often refer to her as our Gray Ghost because she is always darting here or hiding there. No one has ever been mean or unkind to her so I'm not sure why she is so high strung but she is in serious need of kitty-cat xanex for sure. She is very loved and extremely unappreciative- and that my friends, is what makes her a cat.
On Sunday Michael and I had are wonderful friend Paula over for dinner. As I was chop-chop-chopping for the pasta sauce I decided to use the ingredients for my photos of the day. So bon appetite! (By the way, the sauce was bad-ass, I am a fabulous cook if I do say so myself.)
My heirloom spoons and rosemary from my front porch. I love wooden spoons and spatulas, I don't know how anyone can make a roux without them.
On Saturday Michael and I brought Hannes to the airport, went to World Market (where I was super indulgent to myself and bought new earrings, scone mix and my favorite tortellini) and then decided we didn't want to go home yet. So we headed off down the River Road and spent the entire day driving around just enjoying the gorgeous weather and each other's company. And I also happened to take some pictures (I know, you're shocked right?). So, here are a few of my favorite photos from our wonderful, glorious, happy day.
While waiting in the car I took a couple of pictures of my typical everyday self- jeans, Docs, diet coke (cue the music "these are a few of my favorite things...."
And I decided to add in a black and white that I did last night- just because I think that it is pretty and I like pretty things.
The fantastic Dr. Richter is back in town and I am so happy about it. It is most wonderful to have one of my favorite Political Scientists "home" again. And I am especially happy that he is back working at the Austrian Embassy in DC- hooray for having a free place to stay in DC again! Besides that, it is just nice to have one of my best friends stateside once more.
(I call those two with him leaning back in the chair the "Cuban Missile Crisis Series")
So, chardonnay, beer, pizza, Zombieland, black and white photographs, more pizza, and a lot of laughter- can't imagine why I'm thrilled to have my friend in for a visit.
