The Saints Are Coming

Yesterday was the biggest Superbowl Sunday that the city of New Orleans ever experienced. It was the biggest Superbowl Sunday that I had ever experienced. First we set out for Algiers Point to watch the Big Game with our friend Paula. On the way we get stuck behind a convoy of parade floats- seriously.

Once there we had fantastic homemade Ziti (Paula rocks), played with the puppies and watched the game. While Michael, Paula and I cheered and carried on the dogs were decidedly unimpressed. They were, however, quite interested in the black and gold kingcake.

We WON! We actually won! WHO DAT! WHO DAT SAY DEY GONNA BEAT DEM SAINTS? People were out in the streets- in shock- in amazement- in celebration. After 43 years the Saints won the freakin' Superbowl! Cue the fireworks. On to the Ferry for the party in the Quarter. Let's get this Showboat rollin'!

Then to join the celebrating masses. There was such an incredible energy of joy throughout the city- it was contagious. Our city-our team-our time- we finished strong.

It's late, we are all exhausted. We have high fived, danced, chanted and hugged strangers. Time to go home.

What a fantastic day and night!
